Corpus can be defined as a database that is created for research purposes. Emerging in the late 19th century, corpus studies are now used in almost all areas. Starting with the 1970s, corpus studies have gained a place in the terminology of linguistics. They have gained prominence due to the fact that written texts can provide sufficient data in the creation process of equivalent texts by the author as well as the reader with no regard to extralinguistic elements, that they have the function of retention allowing the move of communication beyond time and space, and that they have the ability to transform the language from the sensory dimension to the visual dimension (Goody, 1977, p. 78; as cited in Brown & Yule, 1983, p. 13). Therefore, this study constitutes comprehensive and interdisciplinary data for researchers who work on social fields, whether it be linguistics or media. Conducted due to the lack of corpora in Turkey, this study includes a total of 103 third page newspaper reports, and these reports contain 11,195 words. The purpose of building the corpus from third page news reports is to provide a plethora of data to researchers, who seek to find information about how murder, theft, mugging, abduction incidents with violence are covered in the media, which has the aims of informing and leading people, and which linguistic codes are used to convey them to the readers. In this regard, our study contains information about corpus and corpus creation as well as the relationship between media and language.
