In this study, “Miraj (Ascension)” telling Prophet Mohammad’s ascension from Masjid al-Haram to heaven and to be graced with an experience of the Divine Presence was processed with a methodological point of view specific to historical studies and the Qur’an, tafsir, hadith and Islamic history sources were used as the basic reference source. Although there were different narratives which indicates that Miraj has become fact, both because these narratives has included different dilemmas and also Muslims have met with ancient cultures and civilizations, Muslims tried to prove the Prophet Mohammad’s superiority over the other prophets and as a result of this, it can be said that the mythological elements of ancient civilizations have been included in the Islamic culture and the Miraj incident has become a belief object.
