After migration from rural to urban areas, the sense of compatriotism and countryman associations, which provided a unique socialization model in the process of urbanization, emerged as a form of solidarity. Countryman associations are a unit of community organizations, which assist the citizens migrating to the city in terms of adaptation to the city life and preserving the values of the rural life. Their purpose is to maintain the group culture and act as place where countrymen come together for solidarity. Taking into account all the cities in Turkey which have had immigration, there will be no city without a countryman association that we can discuss. It is possible to see the physical and social characteristics for the existence of different countryman associations, which are intertwined in the areas that settlers have settled in after their city migration. For this reason, we can consider each region, district and neighborhood of a particular city as an area constituted by a specific immigration settlement. In migrant cities, new urban settlers cannot portray innovative characteristics due to urban-rural disputes, feelings of belonging, urban awareness and problems of adaptation. Especially in the case of the marginal groups; just to keep their manners, customs and traditions alive, they resist modern development. The countryman associations are trying to contribute to the inclusion of the originally non-urban individuals to the physical and social areas of the city by influencing them in terms of progress and change. The research is carried out to find the sociological view of countryman associations. For this reason, the research aims to understand the attitudes towards them. The research is limited to sociological interpretations of the theoretical and survey findings. The place of the research was determined as Samsun / Atakum. The research findings were evaluated by the SPSS statistical program.
