In this study, the French, English and Turkish versions of the tale The Little Match Girl have been analyzed in terms of linguistic, semantic and narrative aspects. For this analysis, particular versions of the tale in these three languages have been compared. The method used in this study has focused on how the language is used and how it should be interpreted. Along with the linguistic and semantic structure of the tale, the study has also aimed to analyze the tale in terms of the non-linguistic factors, the cultural structures, traditions and life values of the communities of these languages. The fundamental purpose of the study is to find out to what extent the language used in the tale keeps the originality of the tale. It has been concluded that the original theme of the tale has been kept and that the tale has been narrated in the way that the language and the theme of the tale has been compatible with the cultural structures, traditions, life values and beliefs of the communities where these languages.
