Abstract

Author(s): Dr. Necati DEMÄ°R

This study includes 1265 lullabies we have already organized and prepared to be published as a book. After the arrangement and categorization studies we have seen that lullabies are those through which Turkish has been used in the most beautiful way. Through them, the mother tongue, Turkish can be taught to children of 0-6 in the utmost easy and effective way. In short, lullabies are defined as ‘the effective verses which that are presented in a melodious way by the mothers or close people of the children in order to make them fall into sleep.’ Moreover, when analysed in detail, it seems that lullabies have further in function than just helping the babies and children with falling into sleep, they are also told to contribute to their education by teaching them the bases of their own language and culture.
