Sar? Abdullah Efendi (d. 1071/1660) is an important sufi who lived in the 17th century. Sar? Abdullah Efendi came to the fore as a Bairami-Malami and ?arih-i Mesnevi, and is known to be the member of Celveti and Mevlevi orders at the same time. Abdullah Efendi received a sound education and served in many civil services such as “Tezkireci” and “Reis-ül Küttab”. When Abdullah Efendi was seventy five years old, he lived in seclusion in his house located by Koca Mustafa Pasha Hankah and engaged in science, worship, writing and classification until his death. He died of edema illness at the age of seventy six in 1071/1660. Abdullah Efendi wrote many important works in terms of history of sufism and sufi thoughts such as Cevâhir-i Bevâhir-i Mesnevî, which contains the most extensive Turkish comment written in the first volume of Mesnevi and Semerâtü’l Fuâd fi’l-Mebde-i ve’l-Meâd, and he became one of the most prominent sufis of his era with his commentator, author, poet and calligrapher identity. In this study we will try to reveal Sar? Abdullah Efendi’s perspective of seyr u suluk which is regarded as a spiritual education process, in his works and his opinions about the stages, principles, morals of seyr ü suluk, and riyazat-mucahade, uzlet concepts.
