A MUKEYYIFAT (PLEASURE-INDUCING SUBSTANCES) DEBATE WRITTEN ON MARCH 3, 1750: MUHALEME-I MUKEYYIFAT

Muhaleme-i Mukeyyifat which is registered “Esad Efendi 3622” at Süleymaniye Library in Istanbul is a mükeyyifat (pleasureinducing substances) debate in which eight pleasure-inducing substances dispute severely in order to become the favorite of the world. The pleasure-inducing substances in Muhâleme-i Mükeyyifât written on March 3, 1750 in Istanbul are opium, ber?, marijuana, boza, wine, arrack, coffee and tobacco. Kahve-i c?n-fez? who represents coffee wins the debate took place in a pavilion of Isret-abad field of Tahayyulat sanjak.
