Last centuries of Ottoman State has been marked with reforms realized in order to solve internal and external problems. Tanzimat was the era these reform movements have been rooted and become wide spread in all areas such as military, education, law, administration. The early years of the Republic is a time period not only the regime but also society and it’s cultural structure undergoes a fundamental change in Turkey. During this period there were significant changes in the social status of women as it happened in many other areas. This change has resulted in the increase social visibility of Turkish women. This study aims to evaluate changing in the status of Turkish women in this period according to the beauty contest in 1929.
