In studies conducted in the framework of the communication science, it is laid great stressondetermining how the topics, which the majority of the society pays attention to, are presented in the press. Thus, the studies conducted in this field consistently show that the press has a direct effect on creating a public opinion. The EU integration process is also very important step for Turkey. Both internationally and at home, the integration into the EU plays a decisive role in every field, which will be able to come into mind, ranging from education to health, from environment to usage of the technology, from maritime to agriculture. It is quite important to determine how such a process having a high potential for shaping the Turkey’s future is presented in the press. The purpose of this study is to reveal particularly from which point of view (for and against) and in what manner the topic of “How will the EU-Process and a full membership in the Union make a change in the Turkey’s daily life?”is presented on publications and broadcasts, among all topics related the European Union. In this regard, it has been a necessity to examine newspapers published in a large period of time. Therefore, a sampling reflecting the 11 years’ time period between the years 1995 and 2005 has been created and mass newspapers such as Hürriyet and Sabah have been selected for this sampling. Among all news related the European Union published in these newspapers during this period, the articles on the topic of “What will change in daily life during the process of integrating Turkey into the European Union and in case of Turkey’s eventual full membership in the union?“have been examined through the discourse analysis, in order to determine the attitudes in favour of or against the EU.In order to determine at what rate news articles related to this topic occupy a place in newspapers, these articles are also subjected to a kind of calculation, which pays regard to the column/centimetre (st/cm). The calculation “column/centimetre” has been carried out separately both pro and con news articles. Thus, it has been aimed at determining of what newspapers concentrate on which attitude of reporting.Through this study, it will be possible to determine, whether the Turkish print press gives adequately detailed and satisfactory information as well as the most objective information, by transmitting the topic with its all aspects,in relation to a process that plays a decisive role in shaping the future of Turkey and Turkish people. The attitude of the press determined through this study will also give us clues for in what manner a public opinion is created in relation to this topic.
