The Qur'an has always been of great signficance in Muslim scholars perspective during history. Although scholars vehemently discussed the proccess of the descend (nuz?l) in every aspect they reached not any precise conclusion about what the last revelation really is. This paper is an endeavor to lay down an analysis on existing views concerning which verse of the Qur’an is revealed last, and offer a reasonable perspective for researchers. There are limited number of different views on the first revealed verse or verses of the Qur’an, yet there has been a developed literature on them. Although there are more different views on the possible latest revealed verse, research on it has been relatively small. Reports on the context of revelation are the statements of those who experienced the revelation first hand; these statements should be given highest priority in understanding the Qur’an as the collective body of all revelations. Successors who follow the most precious first audience of the Qur’an try to understand the Qur’anic message while under the influence of their time and prevailing values. Our research has revealed that Islamic scholars have exerted their utmost efforts to determine the latest revealed verse and in that direction they meticulously analyzed all the reports and their details. Considering all this scholarly endeavor, it is important to determine the latest verse, however, the chain of narration of these reports does not reach up to the Prophet, and this makes the issue even more complicated.
