Educational buildings generally consist of spaces with different functions such as classrooms, circulation areas, administrative spaces, laboratories, conference room and wet spaces. Each of these spaces has different lighting requirements. Generally, in the lighting guidelines prepared for educational buildings, only the lighting conditions required for the classrooms are given and the conditions for other places are not presented. The lighting conditions offered in the guidelines sometimes do not go beyond the numerical values. In this study, the guidelines, standards and regulations prepared for the lighting design of educational buildings in different countries of the world were investigated in terms of the lighting information they contain and a lighting guidelines proposal was created for the places that should be located in the school buildings. The proposal guide is intended to provide a holistic approach to lighting design in schools and to guide designers, practitioners and users as well as various other organizations that will prepare guidelines.
