The method of psychoanalysis put forward by Australian doctor Sigmund Freud at the end of 19th century and beginning of 20th century provides litterateurs with new opportunities in analyzing literary works. In this method, the writers’ subconsciousness is discussed through the interrelations among the author – literary work – the reader. In order for in-depth understanding of Necip Faz?l K?sakürek’s poems, it is required to consider and examine the memoir of the author alongside the political and social conditions of the era as Necip Faz?l’s psychological system has a crucial impact on his poems. The poem “Zindandan Mehmet’e Mektup” is a sonnet Necip Faz?l has written while he was a convict in Sinop Topta?? Prison after 1960 coup d'etat.
