Due to limited fossil fuels and their negative impact on environment such as air pollution, acid rains and greenhouse effect, the interest on renewable energy resources has been increasing, gradually, all over the world. Turkey which is an importing country imports more half of energy need and this situation has negative impact on the country economy.
Due to the geographical location, Turkey is a country with wind energy potential is quite high. In general, potential wind energy areas in Turkey lie in the North western and northern parts and at locations along the Aegean Sea coast. The aim of this research is to identify the usage state of wind power within renewable energy resources through examining it in Turkey and the World and to make suggestions about Turkey’s energy policies.
