The purpose of this study is firstly to establish the cognitive styles of students learning French in department of translation and interpretation at Marmara University; and secondly to determine how to make the learning process of students having different cognitive styles to be more effective by identifying the distribution of cognitive styles among auditory, visual and kinaesthetic styles, and to make recommendations that may be effective in learning. This study has included 28 students at Marmara University, Department of French Translation and Interpretation. The study was carried out using a questionnaire. Data obtained were processed using the SPSS Software, and the frequency values are presented in the form of tables. At the end of the study auditory, visual and kinaesthetic styles, and then the appropriate methods and techniques were recommended taking into consideration the characteristics of students.
