The purpose of this study is to examine how the issue of migration and refugees is addressed in the academic world of Turkey, under certain headings. The aim here is to draw conclusions about a social subject through the academic activities and to put forth the course of the subject discussed. In this context, literature review was conducted in the postgraduate dissertations in the National Dissertation Center of the Council of Higher Education in Turkey with fourteen different keywords and appropriate evaluations were made according to certain categories. The key words utilized in this survey are migration, migration-child, migration-woman, migrationhealth, migration-education, migration-family, migration-politics, refugee, refugee-child, refugee-woman, refugee-health, refugee-education, refugeefamily and refugee-politics. Briefly stated, in this research besides the dissertations with migration and refugee, the dissertations including key words such as woman, child, family, politics, education, health along with migration or refugee have been viewed and 507 Master’s and Doctoral dissertations have been subject to this study. This figure is an indication of the large number of researches that have been realized recently concerning the migration and refugee issues in Turkey. These dissertations have been evaluated according to the criteria such as university, year, science and education department, and the obtained data were analyzed by and interpreted SPSS program. This figure is an indication of the large number of studies on immigration and refugee studies in Turkey. Nevertheless it has been observed that particular universities principally focus on certain issues, and that the areas on which the research topics concentrated vary from year to year. Again, in this research it has been viewed that great number of dissertations about migration and refugee have been prepared by different disciplines. This is especially important for it demonstrates the fact that the issue of migration and refugee is a matter that requires multidisciplinary study. In general terms, the results of this study have shown that the number of studies about migration and refugee have increased recently; studies are predominantly in the fields of social policy and health and education; and it is possible to say that much study has been done by different branches of science such as social work, sociology, psychology, medicine, economics, law, public management, educational sciences, geography, language, literature, radio- television and cinema.
