Vladimir Nabokov is one of the most outstanding figures of the contemporary world literature. Having used modernist and postmodernist techniques succsessfully, the author always managed to depict his skill in writing. The Real Life of Sebastian Knight is one of the significant examples of his skill in writing. The aim of this study is to examine the novel, The Real Life of Sebastian Knight in the sense of Gerard Genette’s approach to narrative discourses. This study gives place to narrative modes of literature and describes diegetic and mimetic settlements. And also, according to Genette’s approach the narartive discourse and narrating is examined and all of these concepts are scrutinized in Nabokov’s The Real Life of Sebastian Knight which is taken as a sample.
