Ottoman Turkish is a fertile era of the Oghuz group of the Turkic languages in which both the literary works and the nonliterary works in prose and verse as translation, original or adaptation were produced on various subjects. Medicine, pharmacy, agriculture, physics, botanic, zoology, geography, geology and alchemy are among the most common topics of the non-literary works drawn up during this period. Alchemy, which also constitutes the subject of this paper, can be explained as the transmutation of the base metals into precious metals, especially gold and silver. Based on the edition of Mecm??atü’l-Mücerreb?t (“The Collection of the Proved (Processing)”) written by E?refz?de ‘Al? Çelebi (d. 1018/1609), who was accepted as an authority in the subject of alchemy and lived in the 17th century, the paper aims to introduce the text in question. As far as it can be determined, there are seven copies of the Mecm??atü’l-Mücerreb?t. The copy located in the collection of Princeton University MS Third Series under the archive number of 585 is based on the edition of the text, since it is the only complete copy which can be accessed.
