The work of Abdel Rahman Khalis al-Talabani al-Kirkuki (1275/1858) which is entitled Kitab al-mearif fi Matnawisharif is a Persian poetic commentary on the first eighteen couplets of Rumi’s (672/1273) unique work Matnawi Ma'nawi. Al-Kirkuki wrote this book by request of his followers, expounded the couplets of Matnawi by other couplets of it. The work distinguished from the other Matnawi commentaries by the features of being poetic and written by Khalis Talabani who is the founder of the Qadiriyya-Khalisiyya Branch. According to Khalis Talabani, Matnawi is a kind of commentary of Quran. Because reflect the content of the Qur'an. It is inferred from his statements: “Rumi's Matnawi is a Quran in Pahlavi (Persian) language". In this study, Khalis Talabani's life will briefly mentioned, his work will be introduced and some important issues that author pointed out while commenting Matnawi, will explained.
