The aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of the earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 that occurred in Aç?kgüney-Ki??, Bingöl, on December 3, 2015. Aç?kgüney-Ki?? earthquake took place at the west of Karl?ova Triple Junction where North Anatolian Fault (NAF) and East Anatolian Fault (EAF) intersect. In this field there are many faults developed in parallel with NAF and EAF. The distribution of main earthquake and aftershocks indicate faulting in NW-SE direction. Thus, it is thought that Aç?kgüney earthquake has occurred depending on faults developed in parallel with NAF. The earthquake did not cause any loss of life but 11 buildings collapsed and it caused severe damage to 714 buildings including houses and workplaces. After earthquake, there have been mass movements such as earth flows, rock falls and deformations on road embankments. Considering the tectonic stucture of area, it is inevitable to experience more severe earthquakes. For this reason it is necessary to reinforce existing structures and to build new ones with earthquake resistance.
