The aim of this study is to examine how “Play Planning” model developed with the foundation of Vygotsky’s cognitive development theory with a socio-cultural approach effect children’s skills when it was implemented in free choice activity time in preschools. Technical/scientific/collaborative type of action research design was used in the study. Participants were two early childhood education teachers who work at preschools in Van and Aksaray. Two semi structured interview forms developed by researcher were used to collect the data. Also, researchers collected the play planning drawings of children. As a result of the analysis, five themes were emerged from the data regarding children’s gains in play planning model. These themes were: writing and reading skill, developing trust and independent behavior skill, self-regulation, problem solving skill and fine motor skills.
