The main purpose of this research is to identify the metaphors that stand out in Turkish maritime and to develop a conceptual perspective by analyzing them. Metaphors that express real expressions with different conceptual descriptions have an important role in the development and progression of language studies. Due to the fact that the metaphors that are developed and used in a specific area in different occupational groups, they are usually understood only by those working in that field. In fact, such metaphors are not only specific to different professions, but also vary from country to country and from culture to culture. In this way, maritime sector is one of the working areas which have its own professional metaphors. The purpose of this study is to identify the metaphors that stand out in the maritime profession what they mean and to provide a different perspective on the maritime sector by explaining the expressions and to explain the meanings of maritime metaphors to the readers who encounter to these expressions for the first time. After conducting a detailed literature study within the scope of the research, the opinions of the 10 years experienced captains were applied to the profession by using focus group interview and delphi techniques. Both the literature review and the opinions obtained from the captains participating in the research process were compiled and metaphors that used most frequently in the maritime field have determined and it was aimed to reach a consensus on these metaphors. In this respect, the study is a first in its field because it includes a metaphoric analysis in maritime field which includes specific features.
