AN APPROACH TO - THE WORD “BA” (HEAD) AND SYNONYMOUSNESS OF THE WORDS “BA, KAFA, SER” - IN DIVANÜ LUGAT'TTÜRK

The word “ba”, which is one oldest word in Turkish, have been used in all dialects and accents of Turkish from Old Turkish period to nowadays. Arabic “kafa” and Persian “ser” words have been used as synonym of the word “ba” in Turkish. However, it is not possible to use these words instead of one another. “Ba”, “bas” differences in some dialects and accents is related sound specialities of Turkish Language. Some of the plant names derived from organ names. Despite there are many plant names derived from the word “ba”. There aren’t many plant names derived from the words “kafa” and “ser”. The word “ba” have been used in many example sentences in Divanü Lugati't-Türk. Extension of meaning in these sentences is parallel to today’s extension of meaning.
