The most basic duty of the prophets is to warn people. Muhammad, last of the prophets, also fulfilled his mission in the most beautiful way in Mecca and Medina, regardless of the difference between relatives and strangers. The duty of warning of the Muhammd prophet began with the verse of surah al-Muddaththir, which came down in the second place, “ ? ???????? ? ??? ? / Get up and warn”. However, the sentence “ ?????????? ? ?? ??????? ? ??? ????? ?? ??? ? / Warn your closest relatives” in verse 214 of surah ash-Shu‘arâa, which is stated to be sent down in the 47th place in the nuzûl schemes, causes confusion in determining the starting point of warn people. However, some of the Qur’ân translators who translate the ash-Shu‘arâa 214 verses made additions such as “first”, “firstly”, “starting” to the sentence “Warn your closest relatives”. These additions inevitably raise the question of whether the Prophet warned her relatives until this verse was revealed. However, in the verses that were sent down between the surah al-‘Alaq and ash-Shu‘arâa, the following words are used in the context of the warning: “ ? ???”, “ ? ???????”, “ ? ???????”, “ ?? ????”, “ ???????”, “ ? ?? ????????”, “ ? ?? ????????”, “? ?????????????”, “ ? ?? ??? ?? ??? ? ? ?? ????? ????? ? ? ?? ?? ”, “ ? ?????”, “ ????????”, “???????”, “???? ?? ??? ”, “ ?? ????????????”, “? ???”, “ ? ?? ?? ? ??? ?????? ? ? ??”, “? ???? ? ? ??? ? ? ??”, “ ???????”, “?? ???????”, “ ?????? ? ? ?????? ???? ?? ??? ? ??????????”, “?????????”, “? ??????? ? ??? ? ????”, “ ??????? ? ????????” “ ? ?? ??? ?? ??? ?? ??? ? ????? ? ??? ? ??? ? ??????????”, “??????? ??”, “ ? ?? ?????? ? ? ????”, “ ? ?? ? ?? ??????”, “ ? ?? ???????????”, “ ?? ???????????”, “?? ??????”, “ ?? ???????”, “ ? ?? ? ???????”, “? ?? ??? ?? ??? ”, “ ? ?? ????????”, “ ? ?? ?????????”. These words show that from the very beginning of Muhammad’s prophethood, he warned all Meccans without discrimination. Especially the expressions “yâ eyyühe’n-nâs / oh people” and “yâ benî âdem / oh children of Adam” clearly show that the warning was made by the Prophet in general before the ash-Shu‘arâa 214 verses. In this article, it will be discussed whether Muhammad warned his relatives before the 214 verse of ash-Shu‘arâa.
