The tense suffixes can express time, mode and aspect. In order to give the mode and tense values of the tense suffices in a correct fashion one must also define the specific aspect. In this study we will therefore not only focus on the mode and tense values of tense suffixes but also sometimes on the aspect in order to be able to show which function a suffix has in cases where tense and mode is not indicated. After the basic approaches to tense suffixes have been presented the tense suffixes will be evaluated in their own context in the light of these approaches and it will be attempted to define the tense and mode values. As it would lead too far to discuss all uses of tense suffixes only selected examples will be given.
