Institutes of Arts for Boys occupy an important place among the institutions which pioneer in spreading vocational and technical education in Turkey. These Institutes which became wide-spread all around Turkey took upon themselves the responsibility of training the qualified technicians who were highly in demand in that period of time in order to realize the industrialization ideals the Republic had intended. Moreover, they played an intermediary role just like the other schools of the Republic in creating the intended citizen profile This study tries to touch upon the effects and contributions of the school which was first opened as Urfa Middle School of Arts for Boys (Urfa Erkek Orta Sanat Okulu) in 1944 and later renamed as Urfa Institute of Arts for Boys (Urfa Erkek Sanat Enstitüsü) on the socio-cultural life of Urfa.
