AN INVESTIGATION ON TRANSLATED GEOGRAPHICAL WORKS IN THE REPUBLIC PERIOD

It has been seen that academic study and broadcast about works made the science of geography valuable by translated in Turkey have not been made yet. This paper intended to eliminate the deficiency in geographical literature, argue translation matter with divergent perspective, and make mindfulness among geographers. Translations in today’s science world are one of the main factors in providing different knowledge and experiences share. Turkish geography also takes advantage of this is important. It has been put about 115 works in service to Turkish geography by translated into the Turkish language in the Republic Period. Forty of the translated works are books, and seventy-five of them are articles. First of all, it should be expressed that the count of the works published by translated is not much at 100-year Republican period. The Republic Period lasted about a hundred years. Likewise, almost none of the classics of the science of geography have been translated into Turkish, is evaluated as a major deficiency. Hereby, put into practice incentive implementations on the translation of works that have certain standards at the level of academic, and will be contributed to Turkey’s geography crucially will be beneficial.
