ANALYSIS OF THE PHYSICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL CARRYING CAPACITY OF ANKARA CASTLE

The number sand expenditures of people participating initer tourism activities are increasing every year. Unplanned growths can cause physical damage to the destination, as well as reduced quality of experience of tourists. Determining of tourist destination's responding capacity to the tourist demands with out sacrificing quality and without damaged is very important for the sustainability of destinations. Ankara Castle is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Ankara due to its historical and cultural value. In this study, it is aimed to investigate the physical and psychological carrying capacity of Ankara Castle. Questionnaire and observation techniques were used as data collection tools. IBM SPSS 24 statistics program wasused in theanalysis of thedata. As a result of theresearch, th ephysical carrying capacity of Ankara Castle was determined as 230.976 people per day. On the other hand, the findings show that Ankara Castle needs environmental regulation, there is a lack of inspection in the castle and that unplanned development dominated. The historic fabric of the castle has been identified as the main reason for visits
