APPLE IN THE ALEVITE-BEKTASHI TRADITION

Apple; accepted, commonly, as the forbidden fruit Adam and Eve ate in heaven, by the peoples connected with monotheistic religions has been used as a cultural image in the mythology of the peoples of the world. Apple, which had a remarkable place in Turkish culture, is a sacred fruit, believed to be brought by Gabriel to Ali in the AleviteBektashi tradition. In this study, in the light of the information determined from written and oral sources, the perception of apple of Alevite-Bektashis was tried to be revealed; regarding apple which has an important place in Turkish oral culture, different beliefs and practices in the Alevite-Bektashi tradition were exemplified; in this way the diversity of rich Turkish culture in itself was demonstrated
