The novel called “Çanakkale Rüzgâr?” [The wind of Çanakkale] can be marked as an important work in terms of its demonstrating the historical and cultural life of the region as well as its literary importance. In the novel, the general demography, culture and commerce of Çanakkale are showed to the readers in an effective way. In the novel, it is Çanakkale that is the most important part of the sequence of the events. For those who live in Çanakkale or have been there, this city means “wind”, and “wind” means “fate” in allegoric meaning in the novel. In the novel, the wind puts people in various circumstances whether they are women or men. What is required to be done to overcome the “traps” and pains that are resulted from this “wind” is to have a profession, as emphasized in Bedia’s musician profile. In other words, man can only be free with his/her profession both in war and in peace. Profession is the only prerequisite for a life which is independent and free in terms of economic and social welfare.
