Traditional handicrafts created by societies in the historical process are valuable documents that constitute the core culture of the society they belong to. In this context, the arts of calligraphy, illumination, marbling, miniature, binder and fold, which are called as book arts within Traditional Turkish Handicrafts, have become a highly developed field and works of high artistic value have emerged. Kat?’ Art, which is included in the art of book decoration and constitutes a field on its own, has reached today as a valuable branch of Traditional Turkish Handicrafts. Kat?’ 'Art is created by carving any motif or writing sample from thin paper or leather. There are different views on the history and development of this art. Studies show that paper and leather carving emerged as a folk art in Chinese lands about two thousand years ago. Saddle eyebrow ornaments carved from leather, applique ornaments made of leather and felt, animal figures cut from leather; This shows that this art has been made by Turks since ancient times. This art, which has evolved and evolved since its inception, continues to be interpreted by many artists today. Emel Nurhan OGAN, one of these artists, was discussed in this study, and the artist's art story and works were included. In the study, Emel Nurhan OGAN, one of the contemporary commentators of today's Kat?’ Art, examined the methods applied, the techniques he used and developed over the art works he produced, and it was aimed to create a source document for the transfer of Kat?’ Art to future generations.
