The year of 1912 witnessed the establishment of the Society of Friends of Istanbul, which aimed to preserve the beauties and historical monuments of the city. The first charter of this establishment was declared in 1912 and a public report in French followed in 1913. On behalf of the Society of Friends of Istanbul, Charles Diehl also published an essay entitled "Les Amis de Stanboul" and a report about the restoration of the Bereket Zade Fountain in Galata district in subsequent years. This report indicates that the restoration of this fountain was undertaken by the support of the Society of Friends of Istanbul. This report is bilingual, left page being in French and the right page being in Ottoman Turkish. This study first introduces the transcription of the Ottoman Turkish text which is of ten pages. This report provides us with useful information on the Bereket Zate Fountain which is located at the junction of the Büyükhendek and F?rçac? Streets in the Kuledibi Square of the Galata district. Information on various aspects of this fountain such as architectural features and ornaments can be drawn from this report. The comments of Mehmet Ziya Bey, who was the director of the fourth branch of the Ministry of Education, on the fountain is particularly valuable, as he provides us with important information on the floral decorations on the monument which are a clear reflection of the Westernization Period in Turkish art
