Elections, which voters reflect their expectations concerning post-election periods and therefore it’s a process of preferation considering some risk factors. As a result of this phenomenon, which can be described as the nature of the elections, voters try to reach the right or ideal by taking into account a number of factors before voting decisions. Therefore, in assessing this sensitive issue for local elections, it is considered that the characteristics of the candidates and the perception of these characteristics by the voters may have a significant effect on the results. The main purpose of this study is to determine the importance of assessments of the voters regarding candidate characteristics. In order to obtain the relevant findings, a survey was conducted in K?rklareli province with the participation of 346 voters, consisting of 5 sections and containing forty characteristics to determine candidate characteristics. According to the data obtained for the main purpose of the research, the characteristics that voters give the highest importance are the qualities that can be defined as moral values such as “being reliable”, “being honest” and “being fair” respectively, in addition, it was found that there were statistically significant differences in the evaluations of the voters regarding the characteristics of the candidates in terms of demographic characteristics, and the results obtained were found to be in parallel with the works in the literature
