CHANGING SOCIAL STATUS AND IMAGE OF WOMAN IN THE LAST QUARTER OF THE CENTURY: TEXT AND ILLUSTRATION ANALYSIS OF PRIMARY EDUCATION SECOND DEGREE NATIVE LANGUAGE TEXTBOOKS

This study was a descriptive study and made by scanning technique. Image and status of woman in last thirty years is examined from illustrations and texts of mother tongue textbooks, which were used during the years 1979 and 2009. According to this, woman was in a rather lower eminence in the textbooks which were in use in 1979. However, according to the textbooks of 2009, women came to a higher status as she gained a respectable position in the society, as she is working in various profession through which she managed to gain a better positive image.
