This study aims to analyze the current academic incentive system in Turkey compared to selected sample foreign universities applications. With this study, it is planned to be made in a number of technical contribution to improving the academic incentive system applied in Turkey in accordance with relevant objectives of the frame work of universal rules. The study is a short piece of a master's thesis that is conducted more extensively. The five selected examples universities are Oxford, California Institute of Technology, Stanford, Cambridge and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), which ranked in “firstfive”into the "Times HigherEducation, World UniversityRankings 2018". Despite the absence of universities in Turkey at this level, it is thought that the good practices in selected universities will contribute to the development of the academic incentive system in Turkey. Qualitative research method was used in the study. Evaluation of academic incentive systems was carried out by using literature review and comparative analysis method following the information acquisition process based on the special situation research on internet.The study consists of four parts. In the first part, the conceptual framework of academic incentive applications is investigated. In these cond part, the academic incentive system applied in Turkey has been introduced. In the third part, the academic incentive practices in the selected sample universities were examined. And lastly sample university application scompared with practices in Turkey then and evaluations and suggestions were made. As a result of the study, it was observed that the incentive policies applied at the sample universities influenced by the general incentive policies but they included some special measures. The most important finding is the existence of a decentralized structure rather than a centralized structure in theuse of academic incentive funds in exemplary universities. In this context, if the central stimulus policies implemented in Turkey revised as in the investigated sample university administration it can to be effective for improving the quality of academic activities.
