The Mevlevi ayins are musical pieces composed as vocal and instrumental accompaniments to the sacred dances during Mevlevi invocations. We have accumulated information on the main topics such as how many salams the Mevlevi ayins are comprised of, one of the greatest forms of Turkish music, and forms or methods that can be used to compose each salam. However, while composing the ayin, it would be very useful to perform the formal analysis of the ayins in order to discover whether any particular unwritten form features, other than these rules, are applicable. In this study, the form analysis of the ritual sheriffs composed by Ismail Dede in two different maqams was done with the view of both having a general idea about the forms to be considered while composing the ritual and finding out whether Ismail Dede adopted any composing style.
