COMPARISON OF MEDIA LITERACY LEVELS OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND CLASS TEACHERS

Tools such as television, radio, newspaper, book, internet that transfer information are called media tools. media literacy is to derive verbal and visual meanings from the media. Media literacy read only informed the media is besides himself the right way to express it is important to provide more constructive and active participation in social life license period to take the media literacy courses for teachers in many researches in Turkey and made the world were considered important and necessary. In this context, it is aimed to compare the media literacy levels of physical education and classroom teachers in order to determine the media literacy levels of physical education teachers. The descriptive survey method was used in this research. In the research, 17 questions “Media Literacy Leveling Scale” developed by Karaman and Karata? (2009) were applied. The reliability coefficient of the scale is 0.84. The universe of the research was composed of classroom teachers and physical education teachers working in K?r?ehir in 2019. The sample was composed of 317 volunteer teachers selected by random sampling method. As a result; media literacy levels of women are higher than men; professional seniority, computer ownership and duration of use, weekly newspaper reading frequency are seen as situations that increase the level of literacy. It was concluded that the teachers' media literacy levels are high, but the media literacy levels of the classroom teachers are higher than the teachers of physical education and sports branches.
