This study which is about Contracting Out (CO) activities in public hospitals have the purposes to identify the reasons of implementing CO at public hospitals, identify CO areas, determine the factors affecting CO decision making process, identify the effects and consequences of CO activities, the risks of CO, the reasons of not preferring or not implementing CO at Ankara metropolitan area public hospitals by executing a questionnaire on hospital managers, purchasing department personel and the personel responsible for service operations controlling organizations. The study carried out with the employees of Ankara metropolitan area public hospitals who participates voluntarily by a questionnaire. The most frequently cited reasons for preference by the participants were to increase the quality of service. Factors influencing the participants' decision to make a service auction are that government agencies (ministries, etc.) are involved in the promotion and legal regulations in this area.. It is emphasized that the participants have the quality and quantity of personel to provide this service mostly within the institution as the reason for not choosing or not to implement the service auction applications. When the evaluations of the participants were examined, the practice of contracting-out has made a positive contribution to hospitals
