Textile, besides being amongst the strong dynamics of the countries, is an industry requiring intensive human labor and qualified manpower. Knitting, one of the branches of textile, is a field that allows performing both production at small workshops with individual, domestic machines as double bed-knitting machines, and mass-production at production units or factories as knitted fabric. The basic surface structure of both production forms is constructed by the main structural unit called loop. Knitted textile surface is obtained through arrangement of the loops side by side and one over the other. Certainly one of the most important phases in creation of these surfaces is the embodiment of this design using both imagination and the know-how. However, product design varying from one person to another, aiming to fulfill the different tastes and expectations remains to be one of the basic problems of the knitting companies. Thus, determining the viewpoints of the individuals working as designer/ drafter at knitting companies towards design problems and revealing the solution strategies they use during this process form the basic aim of this study. In this research where survey research method is employed, a detailed literature review has been conducted and afterwards the knitting companies that were chosen as the target group have been visited and research data has been collected through visual analysis, mechanical observation and semi-structured interview techniques done with the designers/ drafters.
