Public open green spaces offers aesthetic and ecological contribution to cities, and they are also offers more livable
environments by increasing the quality of life in terms of recreation. Universities are not only educational institutions, but also the
places where university students and their staffs find opportunities for all kinds of physical and cultural activities such as eating,
drinking, accommodation and recreation. Therefore campuses are areas where students can develop themselves both physically,
socially and psychologically. For this reason, the structural and open-green space setup of the university campuses should be well
designed in line with the needs of students and staffs.
In this study, it was aimed to determine the leisure time trends of the students at the central campus of Nev?ehir Hac? Bekta?
Veli University, which was established in 2007 and whose structuring process continues, how much time they spend on the campus for
this purpose, what kind of activities they do, and to what extent the campus meets its expectations and needs. Within the scope of the
study, a questionnaire study was conducted with 300 students in the central campus by face to face interview method. In line with the
data obtained, the elements that need to be emphasized and improved in the campus outdoor design from the student's perspective
were determined and suggestions were made to contribute to the campus development process.
