DETERMINING OF WILLINGNESS TO MAKE A CAREER OF UNDERGRADUATE LEVEL GASTRONOMY AND CULINARY ARTS STUDENTS

The purpose of this study is to determine whether the undergraduate level gastronomy and culinary arts students want to pursue their careers in the field of gastronomy. The other a purpose of this study is to determine whether there is difference between the individual characteristics of the students and their willingness to pursue a career in gastronomy. In line with these purposes, data were collected through survey technique from the quantitative research methods. Percentage, frequency, arithmetic mean and standard deviation from the descriptive statistics and Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal-Wallis H tests for the differences were used in data analysis. According to the results obtained within the scope of this study, it was determined that the general views of the students were positive about making a career in gastronomy. Also, it was detected that there were significant differences between students' other individual characteristics (willingly choose the department, internship status, class, type of high school graduated) other than gender and their general views about willingness to pursue a career in gastronomy.
