The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of tectonics in the basin of Darköprü Stream by morphometric analysis. Being one of the tributaries of Perisuyu, Darköprü Stream flows into Özlüce Dam. The basin, which is located in the south of North Anatolian Fault Zone (NAFZ), is cut by the faults that are parellel with NAF and East Anatolian Fault (EAF). The fact that the faults are active causes earthquake in the basin and its surroundings. Rivers have formed deep valleys under the effect of tectonics and lithology. The faults cutting the basin have caused slope values to increase, allowing the basin to be oriented in NW-SE. Thus, the basin has an asymmetrical appearance. In this study, the effect of tectonics on morphology in the basin of Darköprü Stream has been determined by using slope, relative relief, hypsometric curve, hypsometric integral and drainage basin asymmetry. Morphometric analyses have been applied on Digital Elevation Model (DEM). DEM has been obtained by digitization of 1/25.000 scale topography maps of the area. According to the results of analysis, hypsometric curve of the basin has a convex appearance and hypsometric integral value has been calculated as 0.58. In the basin, which has an asymmetric structure, slope values are high. Relative relief values range from 16 to 329m. These results prove that the tectonic effect in the basin is significant and that the basin is of young age.
