Poverty is one of the social problems that upset social order. Efforts to overcome the harms caused by the poverty problem are
largely carried out through the states today. An important part of the prominent public policy approach in the fight against poverty in
Turkey is based on providing social benefits to the poor living in need to support them to meet their minimum needs. This study
focuses on the social assistance services carried out by Directorate General of Foundations, one of the organizational parts of Turkey
that make up the public social assistance system, for the problem of poverty and the role of these services in the state's poverty
prevention strategy in Turkey. Directorate General of Foundations is among the public organizations that carry out Turkey's antipoverty
policies and provides social assistance services in line with its historical mission. The aforementioned aids, which are mainly
subsidized by the revenues obtained from the real estates of the former foundation institutions under the management of the General
Directorate, are offered in the types of food, education, treatment and cash. As a result, it is believed that rather than creating extensive
changes in the socio-economic structure of society, such as preventing poverty or reducing it to a minimum, the institution performs
palliative work that people who are oppressed by the overwhelming influence of the problem from a daily point of view.
