Abstract

Author(s): Mükerrem YILMAZ

Visual and written media continue to affect our life as one of the most important forms of communication since the day it entered into the use of mankind and it distributes information, ideas and concepts to create public opinion. However, the desire to receive news as a necessity of people's immediate surroundings and relations with the society is also an indispensable part of modern life. The news stemming from the influence of political power, economic power relations and non-governmental organizations are seen as discursive texts that remind and represent ideology. The news used in the reproduction of ideology is regarded as a form of discourse. In other words; it remains to be seen how the ideology of the dominant power relations among the social groups is shaped. Within this context, this study is aimed to reveal how the ideological production was realized in the news texts about the "Water Supply Project to TRNC" in the media in 2015; for this purpose, in the news published in the media, the subject language, meaning, discourse and symbols were tried to be analyzed within the relations; the ideological approach and prejudices were tried to be determined in the discourses about the project.
