In this article, the first work of famous Russian author, Dostoyevsky`s novel ofPoor Folk is tried to be analyzed. The effect of thepreparatoryprocess of theworkandlivingconditions of theauthor on theprocess of writing isstudiedandthenthefactorsbehindtheworkwhichbringsoutremarkablyrapidfame is questioned. It is thefactthat Russian realismdevelopsduringthe XIX. centuryand in thisessaythetraces of the Russian realismthat is seen in thenovel is analysed. Inthefirstnovel of theauthorPoor Folk,poorpeoplecharacter, thetypicalcharacter of theera, is studiedbyitsfunctionandrelation in thenovel, also at whataspectsdivergedfromitspredecessors is questioned. Thefirstsociologicalnovel of Russian literature, Poor Folk, is analyzedthoughthework – basedanalysismethod.
