Important personalities’ interpretive statements on one other who have a place in the cultural and civilisation history bring various considerations and discussions with it. Ebussuûd Efendi, the Great Ottoman Traditionist and a legal expert, happened to become a focus point of the discussions due to his religious and political fetwas, and beside this he had been disscused in cultural life becuause of his fetwas on some poets and their poems also. Yûnus Emre who is considered as the greatest poet of Turkish literature and the great poet Hâf?z-? ?îrâzî who impressed the Turkish poets too, became subjects for Ebussuûd’s fetwas. Ebussuûd’s fetwas about them were interpreted and evaluated through the poems written by Goethe, the great German poet, and by Nüzhet Erman, the Turkish poet of Republic Period. In this study, firstly, Ebussuûd’s stance against Islamic mysticism, poem and poets was tried to be defined, and then the discussions related were approached and evaluated in the light of his fetwa and poem texts.
