The aim of this study is to analyze effects of historical structures and cultural richness bequeathed by the Ottoman Empire, which sustained its existence in the Balkans for a long time, on the tourism sector of the Balkan countries today. Accordingly, the study is consisted of five parts. The first part of the study manifests the importance of historical structures, which are among essential resources of the tourism sector, and the local culture of the region. The second part of the study analyses the tourism sector in the Balkans and focuses on the significance of the sector for the Balkan countries. The third part of the study deals with analysis of historical structures and cultural values that the Ottoman Empire bequeathed in the Balkans and provides information on these values. The fourth part of the study evaluates the effects of the historical structures and cultural legacy that the Ottoman Empire left in Balkans. The conclusion part of the study sets forth the fact that the Ottoman Empire bequeathed significant amount of historical structures and cultural richness in the Balkans, which paved the way for the development of tourism sector. In addition, the Ottoman heritages in the Balkans have important impacts on increasing the amount of income from this sector to a considerable extend.
