Social conditions and needs affect education throughout life. In addition to the economic, social and political changes experienced in the historical process, the thought, belief and philosophical features of the age have an effect on education. The changes in the middle age and enlightenment period create an important change on the understanding of education. This study compares Spiritualism as the philosophical view adopted in education in the Middle Ages and Naturalism, which is one of the philosophical views adopted in education during the Enlightenment. In our study, first of all, the educational views of Aurelius Augustinus and Thomas Aquinas, one of the thinkers of Spiritualism Educational Philosophy, and Jean-Jacques Rousseau, one of the thinkers of Naturalism Educational Philosophy, were tried to reach the similarities and differences of both educational philosophies.
