Based on the problems of Chinese tones found in personal learning experience?the author makes detailed study and analysis of the Turkish students’ acquisition of Chinese tones in Entry-level and intermediate classes and probes into the error and its regulation?using the listening and acoustic experiment methods. From the viewpoint of the relationship between listening and pronunciation?taking the methods of listening with noting and Experimental Phonetics?the thesis analyzes the listening regulation of Chinese tones and the difficult sequence of pronunciation of Turkish students. We get the conclusion as follows: for the Turkish students?the rising tone is the most difficult to acquire. The pitch contour of rising tone approaches the falling rising tone. The main reasons affecting Turkish students’ acquisition of Chinese tones are the mother tongue transfer?environmental influence and redundancy characteristic. Aiming at these principal errors?we provide some suggestions for tone teaching. By comparing the different meanings of different tones, students are reminded that the tones are used to distinguish meanings of a syllable. By comparison with Turkish intonation, the Chinese tones are easier to perceive. The application of speech analyzer enables students to acquire Chinese tones intuitively with great interests. The author hopes the result of this paper will give some inspiration toward the teaching to the Turkish students? and also hopes that more Chinese teachers will pay attention to the research of teaching tones to Turkish students.
