In the Councils of National Education, which met 17 times since 1939, our education system was discussed in different dimensions, problems were considered, different suggestions were made, and decisions were taken related to the solutions for the problems related to the Teaching of Mother Tongue. In this study, the decisions which were made in the councils and the suggestions were tried to be determined and evaluated. Based on a thorough analysis and evaluation, it is observed that teaching of Turkish as a mother tongue is placed in the agenda of the councils only as two subheadings and only in the second and twelfth councils with a rate of 3.13 percent. Teaching of Turkish language and literature has not been put in the agenda in the councils at all. Following similar terms, when the decisions and meetings of the council are examined, these themes are only found in nine of the councils.
