EVALUATION OF GİRESUN HEALTH TOURISM POTENTIAL

Health mobility is one of the oldest known mobility. Particularly, while there was a health mobility to have viality and treatment after wars, with the increase of income level of people after industrial revolution, there was an ancrease on mobility level to regions having healing and hot water springs. There was an increase on medical mobility with the development of modern medicine by the middle of the 19th century. Today, when considered in the scope of tourism wich is developing in a considerable and constant way, it is seen that health tourism can be grouped into 4 main categories. Ther are some alternative tourism types under health tourism such as thermal tourism, disabled tourism, 3 age tourism and medical tourism. These 4 sub-categories contribute to sustainable tourism and extend tourism season from summer months to 1 year. It is observed that health tourism is on its path since 2009.It is known that Giresun has got a lot of healing natural mineral water resources. As well as, it is thought that Giresun would fulfill tourism expections especially for the people who are in their this age, with its modern health facilities. This research investigates the potantial of Giresun in terms of health tourism and necessary advises and suggestions are presented touse this potantial.
